Telnet Holding officially presents its « HomeBox »

On October 19th, 2011, in the presence of Mr. Adel Gaaloul, Secretary of State for Technology; Mr. Mohamed FRIKHA, Telnet Holding CEO, has officially unveiled the solution developed by Telnet engineering teams, the "homeBox", a device that integrates information and communication technology to make the house "smart and connected" in real time and that will soon be exhibited at ITU TELECOM WORLD 2011 in Geneva from 24th of this month.

Journalists, institutional and officials were invited to a press conference at the company's facility of “les berges du lac”, the Telnet Technocentre. The event was worth the trip, it was indeed the "preview" presentation both of a product entirely designed by Telnet and in which it has used all its skills including software development, electronics, microelectronics and mechanical design and also in prototyping and industrialization; but especially the "homebox" had a futuristic, scalable solution that fits within the scope of "Smart Country", a visionary project that will certainly help to build Tunisia of tomorrow, and its promotion as a reference on technology in the world.

After the welcome speech and presentation of the solution, Mr. Adel Gaâloul and Mr. Mohamed FRIKHA answered questions of journalists from different present media. Mr. Mohamed FRIKHA took the opportunity to present the very first prototypes of the "homeBox" and homeGateway - residential gateway for wireless internet access, also designed by Telnet - he stressed that this solution, despite its performance, is a device which will ultimately develop further and evolve to other applications including the E-Government, E-Commerce, E-Banking, E-Learning, ... which applications will converge to the unifying concept of "the Smart Country".

Mr. Adel Gaaloul focused on the other hand on the impact of such a solution - if passed by individuals, companies and institutions - in the energy management as well as household and the state budgets in terms of energy consumption decreasing.
